Bones of the inner ear are -- incus, malleus, and stapes bones that help in transmitting sound. Fusion of the ear bones is the joining of the incus, malleus, and stapes.

Fusion may be caused by:

• Birth defect
• Infection
• Injury

There is no prevention for congenital fusion of the bones for hearing. But by preventing aggressive ear infections especially the eardrums the disease can be prevented.
